People are easily fooled by psychic claims or by supernatural powers.Little do the people realize that the entire procedure is absurd and foolish but people just want to believe that magic is real.Many machines that we have today would have been explained as magic had they existed thousands of years ago.Just imagine what they would have said about the telephone ,radio or a plane.

Let’s also remember that there are certain things that remain beyond the realm of science.Existence of phenomenons such as telepathy and hypnotism has been well established , however science is still unable understand how exactly this happens.While we can’t prove that black magic never really existed ,neither can we ever prove that it did!

Using this to advantage ,there are lots of fantasy flicks which are immensely popular with us.May be we do want to believe in something that is surreal !!!!

PLOT : "Open minded New York constable Johnny Depp is sent to investigate mysterious murders in a small village known as Sleepy Hollow.He is determined to solve the crimes but this time he faces a supernatural force he had never come across.What he stumbles on is not just any murder ,but an ongoing killing spree."

What more could you want out of a horror movie ?.This has it all ,a dark and convincing storyline , interesting characters ,appropriate settings and cinematography ,well done graphics and stunts and a talented cast of veteran actors.

Without a doubt ,Tim Burton is an artist.He has proved that when he brought us Batman(1989) and Edward Scissorhands.This time he outdoes himself with Sleepy Hollow.

This movie turned out to be an incredible murder mystery that tested the mind as to figure out what the real plot was.Furthermore ,I enjoyed how Tim Burton maneuvered the cast into not revealing too much of the true plot until just the right time.

The cinematography is beautiful ,dark ,spooky and appropriate with stunning set pieces.Danny Elfman's score only adds an extra layer of darkness.The costume department did a phenomenal job all the way through.

Now, I like Johnny Depp and I think the guy is great at playing unusual characters ,I was truly blown away by his performance.He plays the character of detective Ichabod Crane who believes that ghosts are just myths and confronts a town haunted by a headless warrior who chops off the heads of his victims .

On the other hand Christina ricci proves to be the perfect cast as Katrina.A variety of good actors and actress flesh out neatly sketched supporting characters.

The mystery is pretty well put together ,although a bit confusing at times , and while it does all make perfect sense in the end ,I had absolutely no idea who the person responsible for the horseman's killings was going to be.I did make a guess and it turned out to be wrong.

The screenwriters have also written a very well paced script.The acting and atmosphere is what sets this film apart from other horror flicks.

Tim Burton puts together a perfect blend of story and atmosphere that makes the movie very realistic to watch and the special effects are very well done.Sleepy Hollow is an interesting movie that caught my interest and attention from start to finish.

It is a great psychological thriller.I wouldn't call it a horror film ,but it comes pretty close with some very memorable scenes which stun you beyond belief.

This movie is suspenseful because the music, cinematography and acting all contribute to keep it frightening, yet compelling.

Sleepy Hollow is a great example of an entertaining film which takes us all back into past times where it was absolutely impossible to provide a rational explanation regarding certain obscure ,occult events like Black Magic.This film is set in a time when murders were a common event and it was practically impossible to get hold of the criminal.

I recommend this movie because it has thrills, chills, action and dramatic scenes that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Being a perfect person means that a person owns absolutely no kind of flaws in his soul and personality.However ,for humans like us ,this is not at all possible because we tend to give in to certain aspects of today's world.

Backbiting is one such aspect which most of us do willingly or unwillingly.Discussing about an absent third absent negatively with others is a common habit among all but more so among women.

This is not to imply ,in any way ,that backbiting about others is exclusively a women's domain.At offices ,coffee shops ,restaurants & especially in apartments it is common to see people engaged in animated discussions or comical fun-making of others ,discussing details about incidents in the latter's lives.

But people fail to realise that these kind of backbitings may apparently look insignificantly small ,but they have long-lasting and widespread effects on someone's life.

PLOT : "After the sucide of a wife in an apartment ,a series of mysterious death occurs in the same apartment leaving the cops baffled.A police officer is determined to unravel his suspicion about the wife's suicide ,his ex-lover , which he thinks is connected to all the deaths."



Director Shankar has produced this well crafted thriller ,resurrecting the hope that all's not lost in Tamil cinema.Kudos for him in producing these kinda films ,serving as a benchmark & thereby bringing out some quality content.

Directed by debutant Arivazhagan ,Eeram's strength is it's script which has been dealt with an unique approach forming the crux of the film.The film sustain's its suspense throughout ,making it even more enjoyable & at the sametime providing pondering points to the audience.

The casting of the movie has proved to be its major pillar ,supporting it in an astute manner.The main characters are played by Aadhi ,Nanda & Sindhu Menon who fit perfectly in the film.Other supported characters have also played their part well & Saranya Mohan excels with a mature act.

Sindhu Menon lives her role as an obedient housewife caught in the web of suspicion due to the acts of her neighbours who malign her reputation in the apartment.Nanda has greatly impressed one & all with his portyal of a husband torn apart due to his sarcastic behaviour.Aadhi weaves a fresh lease of life into a cop's role ,with a power packed performance ,he surely is the show stealer.

The film depicts the fact about how some people's nasty remarks about others eats into the latter's reputation thereby ruining their social relationships and makes them more enemies than friends.

I especially liked the chemistry between Aadhi & Sindhu Menon ,expressing their admirations for each other in a cute but conventional manner.Whenever these two are on screen the film breezes past with ease.

Eeram means wet or dampness ,the film too has a damp effect to it which has been handled & picturised effectively by Manoj Paramahansa.

The editing done by Kisore Te gives the viewer's a pounding heart during some moments of the film but however the entire film was taken in subtle but compelling manner.

Music director Thaman takes the film to a level of awe which creates a sublime ambience for the film.The songs are a treat to the ears without halting the pace of the film.Kollywood surely has found yet another potential musical talent.

The genre of crime thriller has found its way back into Kollywood with an effective presentation.Eeram is sure to make an impact on the audience on the perils of backbitting & suspicion in a person's life.

Go for it & get haunted by Eeram.

A cold emotionless killer ,who pointlessly murders teenagers while his face is hidden behind a mask , sounds familiar ?????? Well here is the culprit who started that genre of movies by setting the ground rules for slasher movies to be made in the following decade.Halloween made its mark as the original slasher movie back in 1978 when it scared audiences silly becoming the successful independent film of that time.

PLOT : "A Psychotic person who is institutionalized escapes and returns to his hometown starting off his killing spree by picking off random teenagers"

What's most striking about "Halloween" is that the violence and gore is actually very minimal. The surreal, minimalist violence and gore is far more frightening ,John Carpenter instead relies on his direction, actors , camera-work, and overall atmosphere and suspense to get his chills here.



I love the film's creepy atmosphere like the whole it could happen here sort of situation makes it scary to think about.Also to imagine if you were ever in this situation what would you do.This is a movie that i enjoy watching highly ,watching the movie at night i got so creeped out that i switched it off and brought about myself to watch it only after sometime.

Another major reason for the success of Halloween is the moody musical score, particularly the main theme that is simple and haunting.

It only took 20 days to make this movie and it had a very low budget ,all the actors had to wear their own clothes because it was such a low budget.

The great attribute about Halloween is the strong female characters. In movie after movie we have pathetic female characters with a fairly smart killer. This is the exact opposite here. The female characters in Halloween are well developed and acted out especially by Jamie Lee Curtis.

The actors act like real people, not characters from a story especially the killer with the mask ,it can be scary to have a person say nothing and simply kill, but it's hard to pull off but the guy pulls it off, and the result is terrifying.I have never seen a scarier performance from anyone else ,in horror history.

Half way through the movie i was taking small glances round the room to see if there was any strange men in masks looking in the windows , and then when it was over i was blown away ,as well as being weird and scary.

Horror movies are probably the most difficult films to make because in order for something to be scary ,everything has to be perfect , and ideas never work twice. It's a hit or miss game ,bot looking at Halloween now the ideas seem primitive since they have been repeated with lesser effect over and over again through the years.

This is John Carpenter's movie through and through. He directed it, co-wrote it, co-produced it, and wrote the chilling score of it making it the crowning achievement of the horror genre.

The film is a testament to how much a limited budget can work and how much can be accomplished through creative camera work, lighting and imagination with the most memorable film music.

Halloween is an important part of horror cinema history.Witness the movie that started the craziness for masked killers, butcher knifes, frightening chasing scenes and much more.All horror fans must see Halloween, one is truly not a horror fan until they have experienced Halloween.
